With a home sauna, you can enjoy this healthy form of relaxation within your own four walls any time. With a range of sizes and styles, from the classic Finnish sauna to the space-saving infrared cabin, it is easier than ever to integrate regular sauna sessions into your daily routine. If you’re thinking of buying a private sauna, there’s a range of different shapes and designs to choose from. As a global market leader, KLAFS offers a particularly wide selection.Lifestyle A private home spa offers many advantages: you don’t need to go to a public sauna and you can design your own wellness ritual in line with your personal preferences. In the familiar ambience, you can relax and enjoy several sauna sessions, make infusions as you wish and unwind in your cosy four walls in between. The Finnish sauna: the classic for those who love the heat The traditional Finnish sauna offers proven health benefits in addition to the soothing, warming effect, especial- ly on cold days. Sweating helps to elim- inate toxins from your body, cleanse your skin and improve the circulation of your blood. What’s more, saunas help to relax your muscles, relieve stress and boost your immune system. A typ- ical sauna session consists of several phases: warming up in the sauna, cool- ing down in a cold bath and/or under a cold shower, and then a period of rest. This sequence stimulates both physical regeneration and mental relaxation. At temperatures between 80 and 100 °C, humidity in the Finnish sauna is quite low at around 10 to 20 per cent. By comparison, modern infrared cabins operate at significantly lower tempera- tures, usually between 40 and 60 °C. They, too, have a beneficial warming ef- fect on your body, with special infrared heaters heating your skin instead of just the air. Infrared cabins don’t require long heating-up phases and can also be designed to be very compact. 80- 100 °C F I N N I S H S A U N A • F I N N I S H S A U N A • F I N N I S H S A U N A 40- 60 °C I N F R A R E D C A B I N S • I N F R A R E D C A B I N S • I N F R A R E D C A B I N S The floor- to-ceiling glass creates a seamless transition from the room to the sauna and a special sense of space during your sauna session. The mild warmth of an infrared cabin relieves ten- sion, reduces stress, helps to detoxify your body and can improve the quality of your sleep.24 | VON POLL IMMOBILIEN Lifestyle The steam bath: a pleasant way to sweat in high humidity The steam bath has a different health benefits compared to the classic sauna. Instead of dry heat, the steam bath gen- erates moist heat that penetrates deep into your skin, generating an intense feeling of relaxation. With temperatures between 40 and 50 °C and almost 100% humidity, the hot steam opens your pores, cleanses your skin and improves your circulation. In addition, a steam bath can help alleviate respiratory dis- eases such as colds or allergies. There are also various home solutions for steam baths, from completely cus- tomised steam bath cubicles to compact steam showers that can be seamlessly integrated into existing bathrooms, for example. When building a sauna, there are three options: Log, solid wood and element constructions. The type of construction and sauna model that’s best suited to your preferred location depends on the individual circumstances in your home, your financial situation and your per- sonal sauna preferences. In any event, detailed advice from an expert is highly recommended. 40- 50 °C S T E A M B A T H • S T E A M B A T H • S T E A M B A T H The require- ments for a built-in sauna include a tiled floor and good ventilation to get the humidity out of the house after using the sauna. Together with their three children, they enjoy their break from everyday life here as often as they can. A statement that speaks for it- self: “The Hamptons are my happy place,” says Molly Sims, who is a successful model, actress, podcast presenter and author, making her a real multi-talent. Since last year, she has also been a successful entrepreneur: in 2023, she founded the exclusive skincare line YSE (pronounced “wise”) Beauty and has served as the brand’s Chief Creative Officer since its launch. She bought her first home in the Hamptons in 1999. When she married film producer Scott Stuber in 2011, she told him: “I‘m never giving up the Hamptons.” A dream home in Sagaponack Happiness is best when shared, so in 2018, the couple bought a plot of land in Sagaponack, at the eastern end of Long Island, where they could build a beach house with lots of room for family and friends to stay and visit. After four years of construction delays and count- less video calls, Molly, Scott and their three children – 12-year-old Brooks, 9-year-old Scarlett and 7-year-old Grey – were finally able to enjoy their first summer in their new retreat. Tradition with a modern twist The host of the renowned beauty podcast “Lipstick on the Rim” commissioned designer Dan Scotti to carry out the project; he had also designed the family’s pre- vious house in the Hamptons. Together with architect Raymond Renault, he designed a home that combines the traditional shingle-style architecture of the Hamp- tons with modern minimalism. Molly Sims brought her friend Mimi Brown on board to assist with the interi- or design and AD100 designer Brigette Romanek to The kids play on a Mario Bellini sofa and a table with child-sized benches, custom-made by Shepard Design in East Hampton. The rug from Sacco Carpet is also custom-made; the marble coffee table is a vintage model by Eero Saarinen.Next >
