The result is as unique as the people who live there. In this issue of our lifestyle and property magazine BEST LIVING, we explore, among other things, how existing properties can be preserved while also being reimagined. In our cover feature, designer Lara Bohinc presents her Victorian “Lunar House” in London, where she blends historic architecture with modern spatial solutions and a deeply personal interior design scheme – a home in which her own designs are also part of everyday life (from page 26). Our feature this time explores how strategic changes can enhance the comfort of existing properties and boost their value in the long term (from page 8). You can also look forward to lots of exciting topics about style, travel, indulgence and culture – along with the latest home and lifestyle trends. And if you’re thinking about buying a new home or a holiday property, you’ll find a selection of exclusive villas, houses and flats in prime locations in Germany and Europe (from page 79). The building was designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta; its shape is inspired by a traditional Chinese fan. Due to open on 17 October 2026, the opera house will feature several auditoriums and spacious public areas. Its defining feature is a spiralling, ascending roofscape, encircling the building like an open staircase and designed to be accessible even when no events are taking place. Parts of the complex date back to the 12th century; later, the site was used as a military hospital, among other things. The Italian architectural prac- tices RPA and De Vita & Schulze are de- veloping the complex for its new use; the interiors are being designed by the French studio Liaigre. The existing structure and contemporary additions are meant to en- gage in a dialogue with one another. One of the most striking new build- ings is the nearly 200-metre-high Riviera Tower, designed by Foster + Partners. The 50-storey residential tower, Greece’s tallest building, is due to be completed in the first half of 2027. Green balconies with sweeping views over the sea and city are a hallmark of the roughly 170 flats. The Victorian market hall has been restored and con- verted for its new purpose over a period of around 10 years. The underground areas will also form part of the museum.
